Our First Virtual Match Meeting

A match meeting takes place to introduce a Little to their Big for the first time. The Big, the Little, the Little’s caregiver, and their Big Brothers Big Sisters Match Support Specialist are all part of this important milestone that marks beginning of the one-to-one mentoring friendship. Match meetings usually take place at the Little’s home. After weeks of planning, we moved match meetings online.

Little Brother Ethan* and Big Brother Jeff* were introduced recently via video conference as part of our Big Pride program in partnership with OutFront Kalamazoo.

MATCH DATE

LITTLE

Ethan is 13 years old and is in middle school. He is quiet and thoughtful and likes video games and technology.

BIG

Jeff works for a local nonprofit and loves video games, his dogs, and fashion design.

THE MATCH

Ethan and Jeff were paired because they both love “nerdy” things, according to Jeff, and wanted to be a part of a match and program created especially for members of the LGBT community.

Ethan and Jeff are focusing on getting to know one another via text/messaging app before doing more regular video chats and playing video games together online. Mostly, Ethan is looking forward to having another person to talk to.
