2021 Annual Report
Dear friends, advocates, and allies,
As we reflect on 2021, we are grateful for the ways the community continued to support our youth. With your help, in the face of ongoing trauma, sustained stress, and anxiety, our young people persevered. Thank you. The impact of your support for mentoring is outlined in our 2021 Annual Report.
THE IMPACT OF MENTORING
The U.S. Surgeon General recently released a report noting that since the pandemic began, rates of psychological distress among youth have increased. One strategy recommended to counter these alarming trends is to “implement evidence-based programs that … support children … and increase their resilience. Examples include youth enrichment programs (e.g., mentoring).”
BBBS’ programs combat the ever-increasing levels of distress our youth face, and to help empower their promise.
THE VILLAGE
Fortunately, in addition to their families, our young people’s mentors, their Bigs, are part of the village helping them tap into their resilience and the support they need to realize their potential.
Our youth are brimming with potential to change the world. It’s our job to help them clear the path to their biggest possible future. You make this possible.
