Big Brothers Big Sisters 2015 Spring Appeal- we need your help

When I was 9, I was matched with a Big Sister. That Big Sister was Barb Shambach. I was so excited! Miss Barb was tall, elegant, and very composed. She was excited too, but in a much more grown up way. Now, I’m 16 and Barb is still my Big Sister.

Miss Barb has been a role model for me, teaching me to take one day at a time; she is joyful and supports me in everything I do. I can count on her and her unconditional love.

The best part of having Miss Barb as a Big Sister though, is spending time with her. We never run out of things to say or things to do. I don’t think there are many kids my age who have a connection with an adult like I have with Miss Barb.

Miss Barb and Big Brothers Big Sisters have had a huge impact on my life.

I know that I am a stronger person and that I can better handle what life brings, both good and bad, because of everything we have shared.

Miss Barb has shown me how to be a good friend. Her compassion and wisdom guide me.

I want to thank Miss Barb for being patient with me, for teaching me, for really caring about me. Her strength and calming presence has been such a blessing for me through the hard days. No matter what, she accepts me for who I am, and loves me anyway!

I hope you will support Big Brothers Big Sisters through this Spring Fundraising Appeal. I know that there are kids like me who are waiting for a Big, and I know just how important it is that every one of them has this opportunity.

Thank you, Miss Barb and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Words just aren’t enough to express my gratitude.

Sincerely,
Beth
