A Letter From A Little Brother
Hi there,
I’m Colin, a junior at Vicksburg Pathways High School, and I want to share something close to my heart with you—and ask for your help to make a big difference.
I lost my dad when I was younger, and the world changed in a way that my family never expected. My dad was my greatest role model, and I looked up to him in every way you could possibly imagine. It was hard not to feel alone, even with people around me who cared.
And then I met Scott.
Scott became my Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters in 2019. Since the day we met he has been there for me, not just for the big things but for everything in between. He’s taken me water-skiing, taught me how to handle tools, and cheered me on as I started my own lawn care business, Maxwell Mowing. But most importantly, he’s someone I can talk to, rely on, and trust to be there for me through anything. My dad would have loved him.
Having Scott in my life has made me feel stronger, more capable, and less alone. And it’s not just me—Big Brothers Big Sisters is doing this for so many kids who need someone additional in their life who believes in them.
But it doesn’t happen by chance. It happens because people in our community care enough to support Big Brothers Big Sisters so they can make these matches happen.
That’s where you come in.
Right now, there are kids in our community who are just waiting to be matched with someone like Scott. They need someone they can lean on, someone who believes in them, and someone willing to help them achieve their biggest possible future. With every dollar you give, Big Brothers Big Sisters can make that connection possible. Every donation helps empower the promise every kid has. Every kid deserves a mentor.
So, I’m asking you: will you be part of this? Will you be part of making another match happen? A donation today might be the reason another kid finds their own Scott—someone who can lift them up, help them find their way, and ignite their potential.
Thank you for listening to my story and thank you for any support you share. Together, we can make sure every kid has a mentor of their own.
With all my heart,
Colin Maxwell
