Match of the Month: Kloie & Laura
Congratulations to our June Match of the Month: Little Sister Kloie and Big Sister Laura!
Match of the Month is a new feature for 2021. Each month a match will be celebrated with this special recognition. This award honors a match’s dedication to each other and commitment to living out the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan – empowering the potential of youth through one-to-one mentoring.
Little Sister Kloie and Big Sister Laura were originally matched in March 2020, right before the pandemic started.
They kept in touch during the pandemic via brief video chats with permission from Kloie’s mom.
When the world began feeling a little bit safer, the match chose to make things official and began meeting in person in October. They have enjoyed tie-dying and baking cookies together. They also like to go for bike rides to neighborhood estate sales!
Big Brothers Big Sisters asks each of its matches to define 3 goals they would like to accomplish as part of their match. Laura and Kloie named these:
- Find ways to just have fun together! (Sounds like they’ve already checked this one off their list!)
- Build a healthy mentoring relationship
- Spend time around animals together
Congratulations again, Kloie and Laura! We are so delighted to support your match. We look forward to hearing more about the other fun interests you explore together.
