Meet the Match: Evie and Alex

Congratulations to Evie and Alex on your reunion! Evie and Alex are a High School Bigs match in Plainwell Community Schools, which means they spend time together on a weekly basis at Evie’s school.

REUNITED!

Evie and Alex have been matched since October 2018. When the pandemic struck and schools closed, the match had the option to close permanently. Seeing the importance and value of their friendship, they decided, in partnership with Evie’s mom, to keep the match open but switch to virtual meetings! They connected online and spent a lot of their time together just chatting and catching up.

Then, just this month, Evie and Alex were able to reunite in person! They will meet weekly for the remainder of the school year.

HIGH SCHOOL BIGS

In the High School Bigs program, elementary-aged Littles are mentored by high school students. Both the Little and the Big benefit from the mentor/mentee relationship, and the Big also benefits from developing their social, leadership, and future career skills.
